How Nutrition is linked with Cancer Prevention

How Nutrition is linked with Cancer Prevention

The National Cancer Institute has reported that one third of all cancer is diet related. They have also gone on to say that making changes in the diet can help to prevent most of the cancer that is related to nutrition.

For many years it was assumed that what you ate each day had little or nothing to do with helping in the prevention of many of our deadliest cancers. However, recent research has proven that nutrition does indeed play a major role in the prevention and treatment of many types of cancer.

There are certain vitamins and minerals that are believed to enhance and spread malignancies through the bodies system, and this is needed to help prevent cancer. There are also vitamins and minerals that help to prevent the growth of tumors.

The National Cancer Institute has reported that one third of all cancer is diet related. They have also gone on to say that making changes in the diet can help to prevent most of the cancer that is related to nutrition.

Research has shown that diets that include fruits and vegetables eaten on a daily bases, according to the recommended daily allowance, give a reduced risk of the majority of the deadliest cancers. For a diet to provide a reduced risk, certain vitamins and minerals must be included. This means that foods that are rich in bioflavonoids, fiber, and vitamins A, C, and E must be consumed regularly. These all seem to help to slow, stop, and even reverse the process that leads to cancer.

Now, everyone knows that cigarette smoking is one of the leading causes of cancer, particularly cancer of the lungs. But many of the cancers caused by smoking are related to a severe lack of vitamin C. Cigarette smoking depletes vitamin C in the body very quickly. It is highly recommended that smokers follow a diet with more fruits and vegetables that contain high amounts of vitamin C to replenish the bodies depleted supply.

Most cancer patients are referred to a registered dietitian to help promote a diet that will help aid in the bodies healing and recovery process. In the final stages of cancer, most patients do not feel like eating. In the past, many of these patients were force fed. However, recent research has shown that when a patient does not feel like eating, it is the body’s way of trying to starve the cancer.

During the time that the body is trying to starve the cancer, doctors will go into action and bombard the cancer with treatments. When the cancer is destroyed, the patient’s appetite will return back to normal and the body’s recovery can take place.

While we have learned how certain nutrients included in the diet can help prevent, slow down and even reverse many forms of cancer, there are numerous forms of cancer most of which are very deadly and many people do not survive the ordeal.

If you are ever one of the unfortunate ones that acquire one of these deadly cancers, or someone you know does, always remember that proper nutrition will help through the process. Aside from your doctor and specialist, it will pay you ten fold to seek out the aid of a qualified registered dietitian who can put together a nutrition plan for you that will help you fight the cancer every step of the way. Your doctor may even refer you to a dietitian as part of your treatment.

Skin Cancer Prevention: 5 Ways To Protect Yourself From UV Rays

Skin Cancer Prevention: 5 Ways To Protect Yourself From UV Rays

Ask me for any help you need  now!

Skin cancer prevention measures can actively reduce your chances of developing skin cancer if you implement them in your daily routine. The most common form of cancer in the United States, tens of thousands of Americans contract skin cancer every year.

Skin cancer comes in three forms: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. Of the three, melanoma is the most dangerous and life threatening. Skin cancer claims the lives of approximately ten thousand Americans on an annual basis.

What causes skin cancer?

Overexposure to ultraviolet sunlight (UV rays) is believed to be the dominant external factor in a person’s development of skin cancer, although genetic factors can play a role. To protect yourself from UV rays, you should take the following 5 steps for proper skin cancer prevention:

1. Avoid Direct Sun Exposure: Avoid exposing your skin to direct sunlight during midday (generally from 10am to 4pm). This is the time when UV rays are most intense. Plan your schedule to avoid outdoor activities during these hours. Also, be aware that sand and snow reflect sunlight, so if you’re at the beach or a ski resort, direct sunlight can bombard you from every direction with UV rays.

2. Cover Yourself: When out in the sun, keep your skin covered. Wear long-sleeves and long pants if possible. Wearing a hat with a 3 to 4 inch brim all around is preferable. This will guard your neck and cheeks from dangerous prolonged exposure. Also note that dry, dark-colored garments offer the best protection.

3. Use Sunscreen Properly: You should always use sunscreen when enduring prolonged exposure in the sun. Find a sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor of at least 15 and read the directions for proper application. The higher the SPF, the higher the protection you will receive against dangerous sunburns. However, sunscreen does not offer “bulletproof” protection, and UV rays can penetrate water, so just because you feel “cool” in the water doesn’t mean you’re protected from sunburn.

4. Use Sunglasses That Block UV Rays: Making certain your sunglasses can block UV rays helps to guard your eyes from serious sun damage. The best constructed sunglasses should have a UV ray absorption rate of 99% to 100%. Never assume that darker lenses equal increased protection. UV rays are blocked by a chemical applied to the lenses. This chemical has nothing to do with the color of transparency of sunglass lenses.

5. Stay Away From Tanning Beds: It is a myth to believe that tanning beds and sunlamps are free of harmful UV rays. These cosmetic instruments might make your skin more attractive in the short-term, but they can significantly increase your risk of developing skin cancer in the long-term. Health professionals advise their patients to avoid them.

By implementing these 5 steps in your daily routine, you can significantly decrease your risk of developing skin cancer, while maintaining a healthy lifestyle that allows for proper exposure to the sun. Another important step in prevention of skin cancer is routine examination by a doctor. If skin cancer is detected early, then your odds of survival are markedly increased.

Your Subconscious Plays a Huge Part in Ending Binge Eating

Your Subconscious Plays a Huge Part in Ending Binge Eating

Ask me a question now!
If you had the ability to design your life the exact way that you wanted to, would you? If you could create every detail of your life, how would that be? What if I told you that you have this incredible power within you? What if I told you that you could co-create your life to your exact specifications? Would you want to?

Whether you realize it or not, your subconscious mind picks up on all of your positive or negative statements that you say or think about yourself. Think of your subconscious as a sponge. It soaks up tons and tons of information, some of which you are not even aware of. Everything that you come into contact with in your daily life gets absorbed into your subconscious and will stay there forever, as you are not able to filter through what gets to your subconscious mind.

You may think questions to yourself such as, “Why am I so fat?” and your subconscious focuses on the fat part. It doesn’t hear the rest of the statement. It focuses on fat and that is what becomes programmed into your mind. Subconsciously you will keep feeding that part of your mind with the word fat being the focus.

This is why it is so important that when people use affirmations to end their battle with binge eating disorder they are careful of what they say and think. By filling your subconscious mind with negative statements about yourself, you will get what you don’t want, even though that is not your intention. The subconscious mind accepts any and all information because it does not know any better. This is also why affirmations work so well: Your subconscious cannot distinguish what is real and what is not real. You must use this to your advantage and when you find yourself thinking a negative thought, it is imperative that you counteract that statement with a positive one immediately.

The main purpose of reprogramming your subconscious mind with affirmations is so you can change your current reality. What is it that you want in your life? What do you wish to attract in your life? How do you see your future in terms of binge eating? How bad do you want to stop binge eating? Since your subconscious mind makes up about 90% of your whole mind, can you imagine what can happen to your life by incorporating affirmations daily? Your dreams can start to become your reality. Binge Eating can start to become a thing of your past.

Affirmations can help with all areas of your life including: your fears, anxiety, personal development, and improvement with yourself. By adding affirmations to your life, your self-esteem and confidence will grow more than you can ever imagine… Or can you?

Right now you may be at the lowest point ever because you binge. You are not happy in your life and wish to change. You want a happy ending, but are unsure of how to get there. Even though there are obstacles in overcoming binge eating disorder, don’t let that discourage you. Don’t focus on how long it may take. Take each day and live for that day. Focus on not bingeing that day and start positive affirmations. Remember that ending binge eating will come with the help of subconscious change. Notice what will happen to your life and welcome the new you with open arms!

Zinc, And It's Effect On Acne

Zinc, And It's Effect On Acne

Ask me a question now!

There are many different vitamins with which a vitamin deficiency of them can lead to acne problems. One such vitamin is Zinc. Zinc is one of the most important vitamins when attempting to fight and prevent acne due to its many uses and how important it is to the body and the skin. A vitamin deficiency in Zinc alone can cause acne breakouts and therefore maintaining healthy amounts of Zinc in one's everyday diet is very important for those looking to either combat their current acne problem or to help prevent a future one.

Zinc acts as an antioxidant and this is one primary reason why it is so helpful against acne. Antioxidants help to clear the body of toxins and free radicals. These can cause various problems in different areas of the body, and in the skin these can lead to pimples and acne breakouts. Keeping the skin, the largest organ in the body, clear is only too important. Zinc helps to keep the skin clear and healthy and prevent the build-up of these toxins and free radicals, therefore being proactive and helping to prevent acne breakouts altogether.

Zinc is also proactive in the way that it regulates the oil glands. Although what exactly causes pimples is not known, it is known that the sebum excreted from the oil glands plays a big part in the formation of the pimples. Proper oil regulation can lead to fewer and smaller pimples and helps to prevent them from spreading once they do occur. The advantage here is clear and shows why Zinc can help to stop acne before it starts.

Once acne has occurred, Zinc is extremely important due to it being involved in healing tissue and preventing scarring. Those nasty acne scars that result from acne can be healed and prevented when proper amounts of Zinc are present in the body. Acne causes numerous problems and damages the skin in many ways and Zinc helps to heal this damage and keep the scarring to a minimal level.

Zinc also promotes a healthy immune system and helps in the healing of wounds, to top it off. A healthy immune system also lends a hand to preventing acne and Zinc helps to maintain that healthy immune system in a variety of ways. This is just icing on the cake for those who decide to take Zinc to help with their acne since taking Zinc will also make their immune systems that much healthier and perform that much better.

As is readily seen, the advantages of Zinc in the body, both in how it is necessary to fight and prevent acne and due to it being active in maintaining a healthy immune system, are numerous. A Zinc deficiency can be a leading cause of acne and therefore it is necessary for anyone looking to prevent future acne breakouts to look to consume healthy amounts of Zinc each and every day.

Learn the many advantages of taking a multivitamin and how you can improve health and reduce your risk of certain diseases....
It is vital to our health to receive the nutrients our body needs. Most of these important vitamins and minerals are available in food, but not everyone gets the right amount from the food they eat. To prevent serious health care problems it is wise to make sure you supply your body with the right amount of these nutrients.

Why Take a Multivitamin?

Multivitamins provide essential ingredients needed to maintain good health. They come in different forms, including tablets, capsules, and liquid. This is the convenient way to get the daily doses of important nutrients. Along with a healthy diet, a multivitamin will help support good men's health and women's health.

Feel Better With a Multivitamin

Although most people do not suffer from serious malnutrition, their bodies might be slightly deficient in some nutrients. Even a slight deficiency can pose an increased risk of numerous diseases. Even what is considered minor problems can cause a person much suffering and loss of production. Sleep disorders, loss of memory, and lack of energy are common complaints. To support good health care, a multivitamin is very helpful.

Everyone has different needs due to lifestyles, genetics and age. There are different formulas that supply a wide range of nutrients at general nutritional levels.

Multivitamins for All Ages

People of all ages can benefit from a multivitamin. Children are growing and need nourishment for their organs and healthy bones. Pregnant women have special needs to help their child to be born healthy. As people age they develop different requirements for good health. Many young women have an iron deficiency and require an extra boost of iron. There are formulas for all ages and different needs to promote good health care.

Health Care Benefits

Some deficiencies are hard to pinpoint, but a multivitamin could help prevent serious problems in the future. Mangosteen is a tropical evergreen tree from the Guttiferae family that grows primarily in Thailand, parts of India, the Malay Peninsula, and the Philippines. The tree yields a sweet, edible dark purple fruit that is parthenogenesis, meaning it doesn't require fertilization. Besides being eaten in its natural raw state, it's also used in jellies, jams, fruit juices, and a wide variety of mangosteen nutritional supplements.

Mangosteen in the Health Food Market

Mangosteen is not only a delicious fruit, but is also emerging as what is often called a super fruit in today's health food market. It is usually advertised as a fruit that's rich in nutrition with great antioxidant strength and that reduces risk of disease, although studies are still underway in the United States to learn about the full potential of mangosteen.

Mangosteen nutritional supplements are usually offered in the form of a liquid vitamin mixed with other nutrition sources such as plant-source minerals rich in antioxidants, aloe vera, green tea, and a combination of other health-enhancing vitamins.

Mangosteen and Xanthones

Xanthones are chemical compounds that are either produced synthetically or found in naturally grown fruits and vegetables. They are powerful antioxidants and are part of a family called phytonutrients. So far about 200 xanthones have been discovered. Around forty of these have been found in mangosteen. PubMed.gov documents much research on mangosteen and xanthones. Antioxidants are beneficial because they help rid the human body of free radicals, or toxins, that often build up in the body and cause health problems or disease. Toxin build-up has been known to cause cancer, heart disease, and other harmful diseases.

Mangosteen Nutritional Supplements and Your Health

Although not a cure all, mangosteen does offer a number of health benefits. With proper concentration as a liquid vitamin, it can help improve vitality and physical energy, protect your heart, promote healthy skin, eyes, and teeth, support the immune system, and enhance the digestive system.

Combining mangosteen minerals with other nutritional sources such as organic green tea and aloe vera enhances mangosteen's benefits further. Green tea is known for its powerful antioxidant properties. Aloe vera contains natural dietary sugars that support the body's immune system and enhance cellular functions.

Shopping for Mangosteen Nutritional Supplements

Mangosteen nutritional supplements can usually be found online or in your local health food and vitamin store or pharmacy. The liquid vitamin supplement gives you a healthy diet supplement that's delicious too! Whether shopping online or off-line, be sure the mangosteen product reveals exactly what ingredients are used and the actual percentage of xanthones it contains from the mangosteen fruit. There are many products on the market that make big claims, but only contain a very small amount of mangosteen extracts. Or, they don't supplement it with other sources of nutrition for maximum benefits.

You can easily do research online to discover the many benefits of mangosteen and to find products that are rich in mangosteen antioxidants. With mangosteen and other healthy fruits and vegetables, you can start on the road to better health today.
